How to change fonts

What we will need:

-Download a few files

-USB cable

-Read how to download and upload CUST_THEME file here.

Before we start make sure you have all of these files:

Font that you want change(you can find a wide selection here)

Lgutils(we are going to download CUST_THEME file and upload it again with it):

Download

KP500.flb(needed by Lgutils):

Download

Infineon USB driver(we will need this for lgutils to find our cookie):

Download

Winimage(we will be editing CUST_THEME file with it):

Download

So,now that all the files are done downloading,let's start.

We need a font we are going to replace. Choose carefully because it takes some time to change the font back if you won't like it, so I suggest taking your time picking and testing if the font will look good and is readable at small size.(in windows you can do that by copying the font to X:\Windows\Fonts\ directory and typing some stuff with the new font in your favorite word-processor). In this tutorial I will be using "Visitor" font.

Now we are going to download and backup original CUST_THEME file.This is just a quick overview and I suggest to read full tutorial here if it's the first time you are modifying anything(if you have a backup already you don't need to do this)

IMPORTANT: before you connect your phone to PC take out battery,SIM and memory-card.

IMPORTANT: make sure you have at least 2 GB free space in the hard drive where you saved Lgutils before going to next steps.

Open Lgutils (KP500-Utils-EN.exe) which we extracted earlier.

Type in "D" and press [enter]

Type in "\\.\USB1" and press [enter]

Type in "C:\KP500.flb" (or other location where you stored the file) and press [enter]

IMPORTANT: before you connect your phone to PC take out battery,SIM and memory-card.

Type in "CUST_THEME" , press [enter] and quickly connect your phone to the USB cable

If you done everything correctly, you should see following message:

Following process will take 10-25 minutes depending on your system so wait patiently.

IMPORTANT: Do not close the program or disconnect your phone while this process is in progress, or you may damage your phone!

After you see this message,it is safe to unplug your phone and close Lgutils:

Now you should have 2 files in the Lgutils directory, CUST_THEME.big and CUST_THEME without extension.

Delete CUST_THEME.big file because we will not need it.

MAKE A BACKUP OF THE CUST_THEME FILE TO ANOTHER DIRECTORY IN CASE ANYTHING GOES WRONG.

Now extract the file visitor1.ttf from the archive visitor.zip to Desktop.

Open Winimage. Select File>Open and navigate to the Lgutils directory.Select CUST_THEME file and open it.

If you get a pop-up that asks you to select a "partition to connect to" just press ok.

Navigate to following directory: lgapp\Media\Font . Select the file that we are going to replace (LG_GothicSB_S_V[version number here].ttf) and copy it's filename by right-clicking on it and selecting properties,then copy the text from filename box.

Now rename the font you have extracted on Desktop to this filename. For example my font in CUST_THEME was named "LG_GothicSB_S_V1.02_1121.ttf" so I renamed my font on Desktop from "visitor1.ttf" to "LG_GothicSB_S_V1.02_1121.ttf".

Now go ahead and delete the file LG_GothicSB_S_V[version number here].ttf from your CUST_THEME in Winimage.Now select image>inject from the top bar.

Navigate to directory where the file you want to replace is located(the LG_GothicSB_S_V[version number here].dmf file that we saved and renamed in desktop) and click open.After you done editing your CUST_THEME file,save it (file>save) and close Winimage.

Open Lgutils again, type in C and [enter]

Type in "\\.\USB1" and press [enter]

Type in "C:\KP500.flb" (or other location where you stored the file) and press [enter]

IMPORTANT: before you connect your phone to PC take out battery,SIM and memory-card.

Type in "CUST_THEME" , press [enter] and quickly connect your phone to the USB cable.

If you done everything correctly you should see following:

Following process will take 10-25 minutes depending on your system so wait patiently.

When you will see the following,it is safe to plug your phone from USB cable and close Lgutils:

Now put your SIM card, Memory card and battery back into the phone and switch it on. The font should be replaced now.

Unlocking your cookie

disclaimer:

Although we are not modifying the firmware of the phone in ANY way, your warranty will most likely be void after you unlock your phone, so do it at your own risk.

This won't take long, so no worries :)

What will we need:

-USB Cable

-Read how to download/upload CUST_THEME file here

Before we start make sure you have KP500.flb file in your C:\ directory,that you have installed infineon USB drivers and have a copy of Lgutils.

Now that we have all the files, let's start.

Open Lgutils,press O and then [enter]:

Type in "\\.\USB1" and press [enter]:

Type in "C:\KP500.flb" and press [enter]:

IMPORTANT: before you connect your phone to PC take out battery,SIM and memory-card.

Type in "STATIC_EEP", press [enter] and quickly connect your phone to USB cable:

If you done everything correctly you should see following:

After you see this message,it is safe to unplug your phone:

Don't close Lgutils yet.

press P and then [enter]:

Type in "STATIC_EEP" and press [enter]:

Now you should see either "phone locked" or "phone unlocked" (for some reason when my phone was locked to my network it showed "phone unlocked" and "phone locked" when I unlocked it,don't worry about that part).What we need is Unlock Number that is written bellow. You can just leave Lgutils open or write it down somewhere.

Now turn your phone back on (with your original SIM card). Go to Dialing screen and type in this code: 2945#*71001# .

Press "Unlock USIM"

Press "Network Lock"

Type in the Unlock Number that you got from Lgutils. If you did everything correctly your phone should restart and it will be unlocked. That's it :)

Installing .SWF games

In this tutorial I will show you how to install flash(swf) games. Flash games support both touch-screen and motion sensor (!) . And are easier to make/port from their computer versions.(yes,you can do that!).LG Cookie's internal flash player supports flash version 8 and actionscript 2, which, in my opinion is more than enough to let your creativity go wild ;).Of course if you don't have to make your own games.There's lots of them made/ported by users here[en] and here[ru] !

What we will need:

There are various flashplayers for our cookie.In this tutorial I will show you how to install flashplayer made by hitmanpl. Download this pack:

Extract its contents on Desktop:

Unfortunately we are going to sacrifice one game that already is on our cookie and replace it with a flashplayer.Don't worry,its not a big loss(the roulette game) compared to how much more games you are going to put in your cookie.

Open winimage and open CUST_THEME file with it.

Browse to the following directory: lgapp\dmf\Game\

Delete the file called "Roulette.swf" :

Now select Image>Inject... from the top bar:

Navigate to Desktop and select Roulette.swf. Click Open.

Save the CUST_THEME file (file>save) and close Winimage.

Now we need to upload the modified CUST_THEME file back to phone.

Open Lgutils again,push C and press [enter]:

Type in "\\.\USB1" and press [enter] .

Type in "C:\KP500.flb" (or other location where you stored the file) and press [enter] .

IMPORTANT: before you connect your phone to PC take out battery,SIM and memory-card.

Type in "CUST_THEME" , press [enter] and quickly connect your phone to the USB cable.

If you done everything correctly you should see following:

When you will see the following,it is safe to plug your phone from USB cable and close Lgutils:

Put your SIM card, Memory Card and battery back into the phone.Turn the phone on.

Extract Flashcontents.zip archive contents on Desktop:

Connect phone to USB cable and select "mass storage".

Put folder called "flashplayer" from your Desktop to your phone's internal memory "flashcontents" folder exactly like shown here:

Disconect your phone from USB cable. Now you can access your flashplayer by going to Main Menu>Entertainment>Games & Apps>Flash demos>Wheel mania .You can exit it anytime by pushing red key of your phone.

That's about it. I won't write how to put more games on this player because it already has 38 games and this tutorial is already kind-of long. If you have any problems, leave a comment here.

Downloading and Uploading CUST_THEME file

Most of the tutorials here include downloading and uploading your CUST_THEME file to/from your phone. So I decided to make separate lesson that explains how to do it.

What will we need:

-Patience

-USB cable

-Download a few files

-Phone itself ;)

Before we start,download all these files:

Lgutils(we are going to download CUST_THEME file and upload it again with it):

KP500.flb(used by Lgutils):

Infineon USB driver(we will need this for lgutils to find our cookie):

Winimage(I will explain why we need it later):

So,now that all the files are done downloading,let's start.

Extract Lgutils to "desktop" folder.

Extract KP500.flb to "C:\" directory(it will be easier later if you extract it there):

Install Infineon USB driver.

Install Winimage.

Now we are going to download and backup original CUST_THEME file.

Now I will eplain why did we need to download and install winimage. Think of it as a special archive manager(e.g. like winrar) that we need to open and edit the CUST_THEME file.

Open Winimage. Select File>Open and navigate to the Lgutils directory.Select CUST_THEME file and open it:

If you get a pop-up that asks you to select a "partition to connect to" just press ok.

Now you can make changes that explained in other tutorials in this website.We don't need to change anything so just close the program(winimage) now.

Uploading CUST_THEME back to our phone.

Open Lgutils again,push C and press [enter]:

Type in "\\.\USB1" and press [enter] .

Type in "C:\KP500.flb" (or other location where you stored the file) and press [enter] .

IMPORTANT: before you connect your phone to PC take out battery,SIM and memory-card.

Type in "CUST_THEME" , press [enter] and quickly connect your phone to the USB cable.

If you done everything correctly you should see following:

Installing *.SWF Themes
